Costly Changes to Adobe Upgrade Policy

December 5, 2011

News of significant changes to Adobe’s upgrade policy for owners of Adobe Photoshop has been circulating for a week or two. I thought I’d mention it here in case some folks had not heard.

Adobe has always permitted flexible upgrades from earlier versions of a product. For example I upgraded from v7 to CS2 (i.e v9) and then I upgraded from CS2 to CS5.

Adobe are changing the rules so you will only be able to get an upgrade to CS6 if you have CS5 (or CS5.5). So unless Adobe change their mind, you will need to buy an upgrade to CS5.x or you will face having to pay full whack for CS6.

Needless to say this is not going down too well with loyal Photoshop users.

I suggest Photoshop owners keep an eye on this situation.
