On Wednesday, 24th October 2007, Bob Brisley DPAGB LRPS visited the club and gave an AV show entitled “How its done”.

He showed sequences by members of Folkestone Camera Club and himself on a variety of subjects including Madeira, Sir Winston Churchill, and Venice. He then went on to give club members tips and advice on how to compose their own AV sequences. A most interesting and informative evening was enjoyed by all members present.

Report provided by the Publicity Officer

This week (tomorrow) is the club’s first projected digital competition.

A big thank you goes to all those members who submitted work and I’m sure it will be a great success.

Please can everyone who submitted work please recheck the submission guidelines. This first time round we have been very accommodating; almost every entry was incorrectly submitted. I would like the membership to be aware that a lot of work and effort has gone on to ensure that members could participate and to make sure that the event goes smoothly. The Competition Secretary (John MacLellan) and I spent quite some time fixing the files and running through the projection software. I’d also like to acknowledge the work done by John Bowsher in support of this.

I am looking forward to a good evening of projected images of not just digital but also the slide competition that will run at the same meeting.

See you tomorrow.
Graham (Club Chairman)

In these days of digital everything it was good to see a healthy number of slides brought along for appraisal. Brian Weatherly led the appraisal and invited comment and participation from the membership.

The committee has wanted a website to serve the membership for a while. Many options have been considered and eventually it was agreed to create a club blog instead of a full scale website.

This blog is our attempt to achieve this.

The main objectives we wanted to achieve with a website were to:
1: have some kind of web presence so that we could be linked to (eg by the KCPA)
2: give potential new members some basic information
3: give current members club news and information
4: provide a basic gallery facility for members
5: provide the means to share the effort of keeping the web content current
6: avoid both initial and on-going costs to the club
7: and, not least, present a positive impression of the club

We feel that we have achieved these objectives and have only had to make acceptable compromises in doing so. To give some background and answer initial queries there is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) below.

If you have any suggestions, comments, feedback or questions having read the FAQs please contact the Chairman or any other member of the committee.

Or you could add a comment to this blog entry and everyone could see your comment/idea.

Many Thanks, Graham Robinson (Club Chairman)
